Cancellation of outings due to forecast bad weather will be advised by email by 7.30 pm the evening previous to the outing. February 9: Schuster Park, Heather St, Tallebudgera.
Take Exit 89 from the Pacific Motorway and continue to traffic lights; turn right into Tallebudgera Creek Rd then left into Heather St. Park in parking area.
March 9: Wader sites at Ballina.
Low tide is at 10am, with a high tide at 4 pm. We will meet at Lake Chickiba first, then visit Flat Rock, then possibly other sites along the Richmond River and North Creek. Lake Chickiba is on Angels Beach Drive; park between the lake foreshore and the road.
April 4 – 6: BirdLife Northern NSW Autumn Campout, Dubbo.
The weekend will commence on Friday afternoon/evening with checkin for the Campout, the AGM and the Campout dinner. Saturday and Sunday will consist of organised tag-along bird outings in the surrounding region. Sunday evening we hope to have BYO-everything get-together to conclude the main part of the Campout, with a final bird call. Registrations close Friday 21 March. June 8: West Byron Wetlands
Take the Byron Bay exit from the Pacific Motorway. Follow Ewingsdale Rd until you come to the BP service station on the left. Turn left here onto Bayshore Drive and follow that road past retail/industrial units for about ½ km. The turnoff to the Wetlands will be on the left, follow that road and meet at the gates if locked; if gates are open drive in, take the first left turn and park in the parking area. Scopes can be useful here.
July 13 – Chinderah Waste Water Treatment Plant, Altona Road, Chinderah
From the Tweed Coast Road, between Chinderah and Cudgen, take Crescent Street to the west, then turn into Altona Road and continue to the Water Treatment Plant and Sustainable Living Centre. Park in the Centre’s parking area. Waterproof footwear recommended against long wet grass. Morning tea and meeting will be held on the river front at Turnock Park, cnr Chinderah Rd and Chinderah Bay Drive.
August 10 – Vallances Road BBB survey site, (Mullumbimby STW)
Vallances Rd turns east from Coolamon Scenic Drive, just north of Mullumbimby. Coolamon Scenic Drive can be accessed from Billinudgel by turning south (take Brunswick Valley Way, not the Freeway), or from Mullumbimby by driving through the town and turning north. At Vallances Rd., drive to the end of the sealed road and meet at the Sewage Treatment Works compound initially before driving into the site. Byron Council requests that all gates are to be left as found.
Note: there are no public toilets available; scopes can be useful for the lagoon area.
September 14 – Hastings Point coastal and heathland birds
Take the Tweed Coast Road to Hastings Point. Meet at the car park immediately south of the bridge over Cudgera Creek. Low tide at 6.54am may allow some wader sightings, and local heathland tracks will be visited.

October 10th to 12th/13th – BirdLife Northern NSW Spring Campout, Iluka

October 19 – Glossy Black Cockatoo survey day.

October 25-26 – Australasian Bird Fair,Newington Armory, Sydney Olympic Park
The 2014 Australasian Bird Fair will be the first large-scale bird and wildlife event of its kind in Australasia. By all early indications it will be the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. See www.birdfair.com.au
